Gavel Group in the background of panel three there is meant to be a analogue for the Mallet Society, at least as it existed when the student organization was located in Palmer Hall. You could always find folks who were talkative, intellectual, and drunk hanging around outside on the benches. I was never much of a joiner in college, so I never tried to become part of Mallet, but if I could do my undergrad years over again I would. The two brothers also enter St. Paty’s Hall in the last panel there, which is a super secret code word for Paty Hall. Paty Hall is a student residence, one of the oldest and I would imagine at this point, one of the least desirable.
